Gargoyle (Somāsutra)

Gargoyle, or Somāsutra, is an architectural feature typically placed on the northern wall of a temple. Its primary function was to channel consecrated water from the Shiva Linga housed in the Garbhagriha (the temple’s inner sanctum in Hinduism, considered the most sacred space).
